Exhibition policy

Kestle Barton usually offers four curated exhibitions per year. We generally work with our selected artists one to two years in advance of our programme.

In part due to the limited season, but primarily because of our curatorial interests, exhibition selection is by invitation. We look for artists whose work encompasses ideas we are interested in developing at Kestle Barton that pertain to its identity as a particular place with a history, often to do with some aspect of the rural and remote. We also seek to highlight certain artists with mature careers, with whom there is interest in elaborating what is known and appreciated about them.

We generally do not respond to unsolicited expressions of interest.

We are, however, open to serious, considered and detailed proposals that demonstrate an awareness of Kestle Barton and the underlying themes that motivate it; as well as demonstrating a professional ability to produce timely work to the standard, quality and aesthetic consistency that the proposal promises. The former is unlikely to be gained without an accumulated engagement with our programme of exhibitions and events and time spent at Kestle Barton.

Open Tuesday - Sunday 10:30am - 5pm. Closed Mondays but open for Bank Holidays
