Simon Marsh: Etching workshop

To accompany the exhibition, Bryan Ingham: Flowers and Jugs (6 September – 1 November, 2025), Simon Marsh, a printmaker from the Bryan Ingham estate will be running two-day workshops on printmaking for the local secondary school in Mullion, and the other open to the public. The public workshop will take place over two days, Sunday 7 and then return on Saturday 13 September – 10:30am – 5pm.
Simon Marsh brings access and understanding to works of art by Ingham, enhanced by his own printmaking skills. He is an artist and intaglio printer. He moved to Cornwall in 2014 where he has set up Jollytown Editions.
The workshop is centred around making an A4 print in response to the exhibition. Participants will draw on a transparent drawing paper using any drawing medium (pencil, pens, watercolour, inks, oil crayons); the drawing medium must be BLACK in order to be processed, colours will not be recognised. Each person will receive a print of their work and their printing plate.
Day 1 (Sunday 7 September 10:30am – 5pm)
Meet at the exhibition. Simon Marsh will talk about the work and Bryan Ingham’s practice. Participants will make their own drawing in response, either in the gallery or in the garden at Kestle Barton. Simon will take each person’s drawing at the end of the day to be processed into a printing plate.
Day 2 (Saturday 13 September 10:30am – 5pm)
Simon Marsh will demonstrate printing a copper plate etched by Bryan Ingham. Participants will then be helped to print their own work. The prints will be taken away to be dried professionally by Simon and then each person will receive their print by post along with their printing plate a week later.
The workshop is limited to 8 participants. A packed lunch will be required, as well as bringing your own drawing materials. All etching materials will be included.
The cost is £175 for both days plus the booking fee.
